Care for your pet this 4th of July

If you have a dog or cat who suffers during the 4th of July festivities you may want to consider supplementing their diet with some CBD.

Fireworks can be triggering and stressful for anxious dogs or cats because the out of the blue banging and popping sounds can release adrenaline and stress hormones that tell them to run for the hills.

As it does for humans, CBD can lock into their bodies system that controls key functions like appetite, sleep and hormones that can reduce anxiety and stress. Pet CBD is largely the same as human CBD so you don't need to buy a whole new pet specific product. It's fine to share your pot with your pooch - just be sure not to share the dropper!

To administer CBD to pets simply pop the dose on a spoon with some peanut butter, or mix into wet food.

In terms of dosing for both dogs and cats, a good rule of thumb is to start with 2-5mg for every 10 pounds of weight. Eliza & Wyld Daily CBD+MCT has 20mg per full dropper so if you are giving a dose to a 20lb dog you would give between 4-10mg (about ¼ to ½ a dropper). As with humans we advise to start low and slow so would suggest starting on the lower end and building up.

If your pet is on prescription medication it's always a good idea to reach out to your vet before administering new products for their wellness.
